             Update

   Extreme Assault Version 1.2.0

      (C) Blue Byte 1997

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

- Improved network scoring.

- Now supports the Voodoo Rush 3Dfx-
  cards! (with DRIVER.TXT)

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

Important!
Due to these changes the current
version of Extreme Assault is no
longer compatible for network use
with older versions.
So if you intend to play Extreme
Assault via the internet (Kali) or on
a local network, make sure that all
participants have the same version of
the program! (This should also apply
to our upcoming release on the Mplayer
gaming network.)

Multi Player Options:
For a few months on the Kali network
(http://www.kali.net) a server has
been available (Blue Byte) where fans
of Extreme Assault can play online.
Often it is possible to meet and compete
with some of the developers of Extreme
Assault there. It's worth your time to
log on and try out exciting multi player
action.

We're also on the Mplayer gaming service.
Log on, download the free internet software
and enjoy fast-paced, multi player action
and chat rooms.

*The program will then ask you where
the original program is located.

*Follow the simple commands, wait a
minute, and your Extreme Assault will
be updated to version 1.2.0.

--------------------------------------
*ONLY FOR VOODOO RUSH 3D VIDEO CARDS*
--------------------------------------
*First, make sure that you've installed
the latest drivers for card.
(Glide Runtime Drivers for Voodoo
Graphics and Voodoo Rush for versions
2.42 and higher are to be found at
http://www.3dfx.com/software/
dowunload_glidert.html; updated 10/97)

If you're still having problems starting
the game, you'll need to install an
older version of Glide2x.ovl.

*Make sure you have the 'DRIVER.EXE' file
installed in your EXTREME directory.

*Start the file by entering DRIVER in DOS
mode, or simply double clicking it from
Windows 95.

*Click on 'Unzip' to start.

*When asked to overwrite the file click
'Yes.'

*Click on 'OK' then 'Close.'

*Then go back and double click on (or
type in DOS mode) Xa_3Dfx to start the
optimized version of Extreme Assault.

-------------------------------------
What's New?
-------------------------------------

*Better Network Evaluation:
The problem associated with the
erroneous hit computations in network
mode (which is rare) has now been
corrected.

*Better 3Dfx Support:
This version of Extreme Assault
supports 3Dfx-cards with the Voodoo
Rush chip (like the Hercules Stingray
128/3D card).
Owners of these cards can now enjoy the
speed and graphic quality of the program.

*Note-Most Voodoo Rush owners will need
to use the DRIVER.EXE file also for best
results.

-------------------------------------
Important!

Due to these changes the current version
of Extreme Assault is no longer compatible
for network use with older versions!
Every PC in multi player mode needs to
have updated version 1.2.0 to play
together.

-------------------------------------

Enjoy this new, improved version of
Extreme Assault!
